Historic Schooner Olad begins tours for the 2013 season with a second boat!

All who visit Camden enjoy its picturesque harbor known for its schooners and windjammers. Every spring locals and visitors await the unwrapping of the boats as the weather warms and the captains of the historic fleet of day sailing schooners announce that it is time again to set sail! Schooner Olad is one of four historic wooden schooners (not to be confused with a Maine windjammer) that sail from the harbor from May thru mid October, taking guests onboard for a truly unique Maine experience.  For most, it is a memory they will long cherish and share with friends and family!  This year Olad has great news ... a second boat!
This new boat "Owl" will take longer and more private trips like lobster bakes and island tours with smaller groups Owl at Anchor at Private Islandof up to six persons. Schooner Olad and other schooners typically take 18 to 30 persons for 2 hour sails.  Owl is a classic!  Built in 1941, it is a John Alden design... sleek, comfortable and restored to the highest standards!  What a great addition to Camden's family of sailing ships!
Sailing is always weather permitting and if mother nature cooperates that means sailing for Schooner Olad (and others) is scheduled to begin May 16.  Morning sails tend to have more opportunities to see harbor seals and wildlife; mid day sails are great as the wind is up and the sails are full; early evening and sunset sails...just the name says it all!  Two hour sailing rates are $37 per adult.  We'll pack you a lobster roll picnic lunch with a bottle of wine from Cellardoor Winery and your trip is complete!  just ask !
